Testimonials

  • Emily has been teaching our girls for the past four years. She has a special bond with both of them and inspires them individually to embrace their progress. She challenges them and gives them the confidence they need to challenge themselves. She’s creative in her teaching style and very approachable. Our kids adore her!

  • Emily taught both my children piano for several years. She always made my children feel like they were special- she genuinely connected with them. Emily gives her undivided attention to each and every student. Although many of her students are beginners, Emily never makes them feel anything but stellar, gently inspiring them to go forward in their studies. She is a beautifully sensitive pianist both in solo work and collaboratively. She has a proclivity to interpret the most complex romantic repertoire. I know that she composes - some of her music recently was celebrated in the news.

  • Emily’s enthusiasm and love of music permeates our home and embraces our hearts. Emily has taught our son, Theo, for five years challenging him to explore his creativity, nurture his musical talent and celebrate his love of musical theory! Emily is immensely talented, inspirational and kind with a knack for teaching young piano enthusiasts. Not only highly recommended but sincerely loved.

  • I am a senior and have been taking piano lessons on and off since I was a kid. Since retiring a few years ago, I decided to resume lessons and started looking for a teacher. Emily has tailored her teaching perfectly to my needs. I have very high regard for Emily as a teacher. She is focused but relaxed and encouraging. Thanks to her instruction and guidance, my playing and understanding of music have improved substantially. I get a lot of enjoyment from my lessons and have no hesitation recommending Emily to anyone seeking a piano teacher.

  • Emily has been my wonderful piano teacher for 5 years and as a novice 70+ year old when I started, I am thrilled with my progress. Emily is truly a gifted teacher who is always positive & encouraging: She inspires me to keep playing, to appreciate many kinds of music, and to enjoy the learning process. Our lessons on Zoom have been wonderful. She is a treasure!

  • My relationship with Emily is one of friend, artistic collaborator, and recording engineer. In 2019 she came to my Vancouver Island recording studio, Silverside Sound, to record her original work ‘Stories from Yugoslavia,’ which was later featured on the CBC program All Points West. I still cherish this recording as one of my favourites I have done; a brilliant, one-take performance by Emily, which still gives me goosebumps now, as it did in the moments of that spontaneous recording.
